My name is Deborah French and I am the mother of two special needs children. I know the difficulties of parenting children with special needs; coming to terms with the news – the grief, sadness, anger, even guilt. I, too, have faced the stares, diverted gazes and stunned expressions in public. My ebook, A Brief Moment in Time, explains my journey of coping with the situation, overcoming my own emotions and discovering the best ways to care for my children.
I know that when you have children, the special needs diagnosis can be heart-breaking. My path to try to get the best care meant talking to many other parents in the same situation, suffering the stress of different (and retracted) diagnoses, battling against doctors who only wanted to prescribe tablets, and relocating to Israel. It has been a long and stressful journey, to say the least, and I now use my experience to help other parents bypass or cope with the issues I faced.
I have met many parents who are raising a special needs child and I have been asked many specific questions on adequate parenting. This website exists as a portal for all the mothers and fathers who are trying to figure out the best course of action; the blog will contain my advice on some of the most frequently asked questions regarding working with children with special needs, and I will create entries to deal with specific questions from readers.
Together, we can make a difference.
